“I work in the pharmaceutical industry”, he says. “The types of environments I work in are sterile. I didn’t want my home to look that way, too”. So there is lots of colour throughout the home. And not only in the art collection. For example, the curved wall behind the dining nook adds a colourful punch to the space. Ample use of slate and marble also add colour and an earthy warmth.

Like many things in Vegas, there’s more to this house than mere good looks. There are brains behind the beauty.

“ The client wanted his home’s design to be as progressive as it could be’ says designer James Young. “He came with a lot of good ideas, but was also willing to work with the team to make his dream a reality. The result is a ‘smart” house that looks good.”

The noticeable lack of light switches is one indication of the smart/good design combo. Everything in this home is controlled by means of laptop computer touch panels. “The system has Internet capability, too” says the client. “I can listen to music, read the news check my stocks, adjust the lights or change the temperature. I can even access the system from my cell phone. IN fact, I can access it from nay computer in the world. It’s very user friendly. My kids use it on a regular basis, too.”
Young explains that the technology is so leading edge, the folks behind Lutron and Questron got together with HP media to design the system that took two years to design and build. “This technology helped us meet the client’s goal to have a house that would be ‘current’ 50 years from now”, says Young.
