Crosstown Collaboration Modernism
meets surrealism in Just for Fun, a furniture introduction by Joel Berman
Glass Studio and Straight Line Design From his studio on Vancouver's Granville Island, glass designer Joel Berman has created fabulous cast glass works for a host of high-profile installations including New York City's Chrysler Building, The Gap World Headquarters in San Bruno, Calif., and Disney's Wilderness Lodge in Orlando. Soon Joel Berman afficionados will be able to witness his aesthetic articulated as a table designed and manufactured in collaboration with Judson Beaumont of Vancouver-based Straight Line Designs. The aptly-named Just for Fun will be distributed by Joel Berman Glass Studio following its debut in May at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York. The table's creators -- a talented bunch that also includes Pierre Archambault, an industrial and interior designer who honed his skills at SMED Manufacturing and Inform before joining Berman -- expect that it will be most popular in hospitality and corporate applications. |
